Chris Cookson

In 2000, Chris graduated with a BA (Hons) Degree in Popular Music and Recording from Salford University. In his final year, he also worked professionally in a band with the winner of Stars in their Eyes; the Wet, Wet, Wet finalist.

Following this Chris was then invited to be the Musical Director of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” in the 1999/2000 season, at the Grand Opera House, York.

Chris has performed and directed various musicals in educational settings including Annie, Beauty and the Beast, Bugsy Malone, Little Shop of Horrors, Heathers and Legally Blonde.

In 2008 he was employed as an AS and A-level moderator/examiner in performance, for Edexcel.

Working with choirs he has competed at the Wirral Festival for numerous years. He has also accompanied choirs for the Lights to Remember service in the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral and the Light up a Life service in Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, participating in annual charity events for Marie Curie and Nugent Care.

Chris currently teaches the piano at Auckland College Independent School and Broughton Hall Catholic High School. He regularly enters pupils for ABRSM examinations and is a Certificated Teacher of the Victoria College of Music (CT,VCM).

2024 saw him working in the studio with local Cheshire artist Harry Tonks, playing on his latest track Believing.
In 2025 he looks forward again to a Simply Dylan UK tour in association with S.J.M. Concerts. Simply Dylan will gig in venues including Glasgow and Gateshead and a festival in Ibiza.

In September 2024 Chris joined the Bostock Singers as the accompanist of the choir! He looks forward to many future concerts and making music together!
